TESTIMONIALS

Recently attended the clinic as I was having pain in my back legs and Achilles as a result of running. Had dry needle and shock treatment with Aine and as a result I am back running faster and better. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommended.

I would highly recommend Sandycove Physiotherapy. I went to see Áine with an ankle injury and I had a great experience. The dry needling and shock therapy treatments are great. Áine is an excellent physio and very welcoming. She gave me lots of helpful advice on exercises and stretches.

Radial Shockwave Therapy

Radial shockwave therapy is a form of shockwave where the energy is spread over a large surface area. Pneumatically generated shockwaves are introduced to the body over the treatment surface area my means of a moveable hand piece. The projectile (aka bullet) located in the hand piece is accelerated to a high speed by a pneumatic pulse. As the projectile strikes the small surface plate the therapeutic shockwave is created and delivered to the treated body region.

What conditions may be treated via Radial Shockwave Therapy?

  • Plantar Fasciitis and heelspur

  • Shoulder tendonitis/ Tendinopathies/ Calcific Tendonitis

  • Patellar and Achilles Tendinopathies

  • Shin splints

  • Myofascial Trigger Points

  • Painful tendonitis / Chronic Tendinopathy

  • Dupuytren’s contracture

  • Iliotibial band syndrome

  • Radial and Ulnar humeral epicondylitis

(aka Tennis and Golfers Elbow)

Shockwave therapy is a modern effective treatment method.  The term shockwave refers to high energy sound waves. In modern pain therapy, these shockwaves are generated in the shockwave therapy hand piece and generated to the painful body region, where they apply their healing effects and reduce pain at the site. Shockwaves accelerate the healing process by activating the body’s self healing capacities, damaged tissues gradually regenerate and heals.
